Default Anyone else sheared a drive shaft?

Was on my way home after having 2 new tyres put on to wifey's Sport, comes to junction, wait for a gap, accelerates and WTF, I'm getting clutch slip - big time! Manage to get moving but get a serious clonking noise.

Lucky for me I was close to Newbury so phoned Subaru4you and even though it was 6pm Len came to the rescue ruining his evening off by the pond!

After taking it all apart my left hand rear drive shaft was found to be sheared off! Blimey! The rear tyre was also deformed.

Is this a sign that the previous owner drove the Sport like a demon or is it just one of those things?

Ho hum.

Andy Forrest did But that's a different story.

Sorry to hear about your problem. It's fairly unusual for a driveshaft to shear no matter how much abuse you give them. What year is the Sport? Is it standard or modified?

It's just a standard 97 2.0 Sport, only mod are better brakes and WR Sport back box. Oh, the deformed tyre was on the rear and not one of the new ones!

I'm starting to wonder if I'm jinxed with all of my Scoob hasses

Phew! I thought getting it fixed would be much more expensive than it turned out. Big thumbs up to subaru4you!
