Thinking of buying an Import Scooby....any pitfalls?

Question Thinking of buying an Import Scooby....any pitfalls?

Well the title sums it up - I have a SL60 currently, want something more fun, thinking of a WRX standard plus the PPP mods - looks like I can get that for less that £17k if I go the import route, i -dont fancy a second user machine having read the contents of some of the forums ;-), but Im worried about any pitfalls - ie wrong "UK" spec, warranty issues, servicing, hidden costs etc? Any advice gratefully recieved...Cheers Mark

Go for an import then, you wont find out it was nicked, and ringed, and clocked, and probally changed colour on these pages then

imports run 100 ron fuel untill you get it chipped or something or just keep forking out on octane booster every tank......

other than that there great

Hi
Two distinct types of import.
Parallel - near to UK spec cars - often from Cyprus & Malta.
These are nearly the same spec as UK cars - mine was £5K cheaper - but I needed to add a Cat 1 alarm and locking wheel nuts.
Usually sold now with a 3 year pan-european warranty.
JDM - These are Japanese Domestic Market cars - that are designed for their home market and fuels (higher Octane rating than Europe). Less like a UK car and not usually sold with a Subaru backed European warranty.
The parallel cars perform the same as UK cars and can be PPP tuned or alternative.
The JDM cars are normally more powerful - especially STi models.
The other alternative are cars from Subaru Specialists - like Litchfields - they sell new cars that are modified to their specification and have some amazing performance figures!
I think you may need to check out Litchfields website and do some more research!.

Thx - didnt know that, but will assume the PPP kit will sort that (Athough they do say use the high octane stuff - ive a mate who works for Shell - he recpons its all a con, they burn hotter but otherwise no difference......thanks anyhow - cheers
