Question JAP ECU (HELP PLEASE)

I HAVE A 96 UK TURBO 208BHP,I WANT TO KNOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO PUT A ECU FROM A WRX IMPORT INTO MY 96 TO INCEASE THE BHP????,HAVE BE TOLD THAT IT WILL BE OK BUT THAT WAS FROM THE GUY WHO`S SELLING THE ECU.

First thing is that the car will not start with the jap ecu as the crank and cam sensor wires need to be swapped. secondly you will need to check the numbers on the ecu and unless its a z4 ecu i would not bother.

Agree with above.
The old jap ecus were a bit poo compared with the later jap z4 ecus.
Rumour has it that the uk cars produced a little more than 208 bhp which was book power.
Older jap ecus were 240 ps which is about 236 bhp so you may be closer than you think.
The z4 ecu could be worth it as it will make 260 ps which is about 256bhp and is better suited to uk fuel than the old jap ecu.
Any jap ecu will need a bare minimum of optimax 98 ron.
Also any jap ecu will not go past 112mph becuase the ecu will have a speed limiter.

IMO i wouldnt bother
put the money towards a new exhaust. You will get a nice sound and some more bhp and you wont have to woory bout fuel issues.
