I have just recieved a call from rac trackstar to inform me my WR1 is on the move was i aware . I sold this car last year and i looks like the previous owner has not transferred the docs into his name and continued the subs.

I do no have any phone number for the guy i sold it to so if anyone knows the owner of a WR1 bought from Worcester park and lives in Kent he better check to see if its still where he left it .
I know it's not normal to give reg numbers out on the forum but in this case might save someone serious grief.

Just found out this car must have been sold on again and is in the middlesborough area. I have just spoken to a dealer up there and they are trying to contact the new owner.

General rule of thumb. Never park a decent car in Middlesborough cos it won't be there when you return. I'm from Darlington and stay well away.

What i do find amazing is the amount of agro i have had trying to track down the new owner or someone who had a contact number. I tried a couple of dealers near to where i sold it and drew a blank , rang subaru and spoke to their customer service and explained the situation the lady i spoke to on the phone said they had no way of traceing it as they still had me down as the owner !!!

I then asked them if they held central record of the servicing and was told they did not hold such info , so i told her to go away and aske some one for some suggestions on how to deal with it , she came back with the same responce that the was no way of tracing it , so i asked if they kept records of warrenty claims , result they did and the car had some work done in Jennings .

Rang them and got hastle about the data protedction act , eventualy i convinced them to check their records which they did and get in touch with the owner , i just rang them and the guy's mobile number unobtainable and there is no answer on his land line.

I hope he does not come home from his summer hols to find his car gone.

Any way done as much as i can , i'm off back to BM3W now

It seems a shame to have gone to all of that trouble for the car to end up being stolen; Im sure that the Police would sooner be safe than sorry.

 

As i did not now where in the country the car was i could not ring the police and as the tracker subs had tot been paid by the new owner trackstar wold only track it if the new owner stumped up the fee.

So the only way was to try and locate the guy directly.

The main problem I can see is that everybody still thinks you own this car!

Did you send off the section of the registration document to say that you have sold the car?

You could be liable for any speeding tickets etc. that the mystery new owner runs up.

As I understand it, a lot of WR1 owners were disappointed and so didn't keep them as long as you might think.

If you look at the most well known classic shape special editions - P1, 22B, Type R/RA

They offered a much better drivers experience than other scoobs at the time. Considering the WR1 doesn't offer an awful lot more than an Sti PPP (15 extra bhp and a nice colour...) must be disappointing when you've shelled out that much cash for one.

Even more so if you change from one of the classic special ed's and hope for that level of exciting a drive.

Never had a WR1 myself, just my understanding of it after talking to an ex WR1 owner.

All official doc's in the next owners name i'm amazed that neither of the subsiquent owners botherd to transfer the tracker and other docs into their name. Even more surprising that the car had some work done in may time under warentee and it was processed dispite having totaly different names on their system and they did not bother changing it on their system to reflect the new owner.

Regarding the swift change of owners, mine was sold after a few weeks , partly because i have a back problem and the seats gave me grief, and a factor which accelarated the process which i dont mind admitting to now as i won't effect any one is thet the suppling dealer would not take the cat back even on sale and return !! at the time acording to the stealers there wae still customers begging for cars, and one dealer who told me there was a waiting list for cancelations off bid 21k for a four weeks old and 800 mile car, i thought they we going to go into free fall residual wise convincing id be better off with out it pronto

Thanks for all the threads of concern especialy the 1st owner.
Dont wory about the car it has not stolen it is safe and sound with me, well as safe as it could be. Parking is not to bad where i live, i just get the odd key line across the paint work. I was waiting for trackstar to inform me when i need to subscribe for a new term, obviously that is now. Ill have to arange to meet up with you local lads for a blast out some time. Could someone edit my licence plate of the thread for me.
