Question Airbags

I know this might be a bit of a daft question but how do you know if an airbag has been refitted after an accident?

hit another thing and see if it deploys?

or, seriously, doesn't it have an airbag warning light?

Vacant space or split fabric on your steering wheel and or passenger side dash otherwise?
I doubt, although I may be wrong, you can get "empty" airbag units.

Problem I have is that my scooby was involved in an accident and then repaired by a dealership, the airbags had deployed in the accident.
Was wondering if there was a way to tell if there has been new ones fitted without taking the dash out to check if the airbag warning light has been doctored.

Take the car to a main dealer for a check.
It will cost you obviously, but you'll know for sure.

As I said above, they are both separate units, one for steering wheel and one for passenger side dash.
As far as I know, if they're there, they are complete units.
You could try this thread in technical to see if someone there can more easily put your mind at rest.
Don't fiddle with airbag wiring and stuff unless you really know what you are doing.
Airbag wiring is sheathed in yellow.
Now I may be wrong here, but it might be that the select monitor system the dealers and specialists have can run a check on the airbags.
So go to another dealer and ask them to run a check?
Again you could ask this in technical.

if the airbag light comes on then goes off when you start the engine then it's 99.99% sure that there is one.

asides from the fact a dealership would have to be chronically thick to think that they could get away with not refitting them - what would they say if you were involved in an accident and it transpired they had not?
