Unhappy Turbo stammering @ about 6.2krpm. Any ideas?

had some cockfag tailgating today, so gave it some boot when there was a nice clear bit. 3rd and 4th around 6.2krpm the turbo was having a bit of a do, then cleared up. Its a MY04 WRX, any ideas? Maybe the hot weather? Maybe because when the old dear drives it she drives right where the turbo starts having a tizzy and leaves it there?

cheers

Does your father know that you drive his car like that? Bear in mind that there is little benefit from exceeding maximum BHP when driving a turbocharged car; itd have been better to have changed gear long before.....

What's a 'bit of a do'?

And how do you know it was the turbo?

No it won't be the weather - it might make it perform worse due to hot air intake but nothing else - afaik.

And yes - warranty - if you're not happy get it checked out, costs nothing.

And 6200 rpm - forget what others say, thats below red line so NP - if it was Subaru would have put the red line lower. Obviously you don't sit on the rev limiter, but giving it some throught the gears thats not an unreasonable amount of revs.

It may of been the fuel cut if you were low on petrol which causes a jerkin forward then it will pull again

Just beware that the factory knock correction switches off at 6200rpm. This is because it has difficulty distinguishing between knock and engine background noise at this level.
It is possible that your car is hitting det at 6200, in extreme cases this will actually stop the car accelerating !
Best get it checked out at the dealer or any EcuTeK tuner can plug in and tell you whats happening.
