Unhappy Gearbox crunch,3rd,4th and 5th

I have a new age wrx 2001 with the standard gearbox and clutch thats done 45k miles. When changin from 3rd to 4th you have to change gear really slowly waiting in neutral or the gear box just crunches and won't go in to gear. Changing from 4th to 5th gear is even worse. Changing from 2nd to 3rd is only a problem when really hammering it. I was wondering if anyone has had similar case and whether its is a case a getting box reconditioned before its too late or whether it could be cheap part like a bulk ring.

Have a 2001 WRX and I only find 2nd to 3rd gear a slight problem. It just sometimes feels notchy and a bit gratey. It sounds to me like the syncro's have worn out. Box will need to be reconditioned. I'd get it looked at soon as if it is just that then it would be a shame to add to the rebuild costs by ruining the cogs themselves.

correct me if im wrong but as its a constant mesh gearbox ( im assuming this at this point as i think all gearbox's for many many years are constant mesh ) then no damage to the actual cogs/gears can happen, just the selecting dogs on the baulk rings can wear?..any scooby gurus to clarify ?

I was wondering if it could be anything to do with the gearbox oil as I've been out the last couple of days and tried changing gear fast when the engine is still quite cold and it changes gear fine. So I'm wondering if when gearbox oil is warm its becoming thinner causing less resistance so not slowing gears down quick enough to change smoothly. I've heard their quite senitive to what oils in them.
