Would have bought a car from them last year.... but they just refused to meet me even half way on a sensible price.... so I pissed off and picked up a brand new WR1 ! very glad I did btw....

I get my car serviced there and apart from a couple of gripes they seem pretty good and are always pleasant. When I went there originally they were a Subaru main dealer and weren't keen on imports....now they're selling them - funny how things come full circle isn't it?

I think they got p!ssed of with the UK cars being more expensive and less well spec'd than the JDM's so they haven't renewed their contract with IM. Apparently they will now sell you JDM,UK or EU import depending on what you want. They do their own warranty on JDMs and are still a Subaru approved service centre.

All the above is as far as I remember BTW.

I had a similar experience. Went to look at their 2000 X Reg Forester which is actually a S/TB. The price was expensive at just under 9K but was told on the phone it was in excellent condition. First impressions not to good..it was on their front foecourt with a flat tyre ( tyres were a cheap brand). It was clean but as you looked closer the bonnet area had several deep scratches. Mainly cosmetic but given the rural setting I'm certain it had been put into a hedge. Sales person assured me this type of damage was common Foresters...ehh? Carried on inspecting and just kept finding bits wrong. Asked if there were obvious problems, told there weren't and then immediately found something; such as the passengers wing mirror didn't fold in. Why? Because it had been replaced with a UK non electrical non folding version. Couldn't do a test drive because of the flat tyre..although they knew I was coming and I couldn't get a satisfactory on what fuel it had been run on. Didn't want to move on the price and wouldn't agree to make good all the defects so I wasn't interested. Final selling ploy was to tell me they had lots of buyers interested including the Manager wife This was several months a go and its still available. Silly thing is that if they had just agreed to drop the price or make good the defects (in their own workshops) I probably would have bought it that day.

bought my 03sti+ppp from new in feb03 from them. they've serviced from new (now at 75k miles) and are happy to fit any non-oem parts. very friendly and labour charges are cheap e.g. had my front disks and pads replaced for ~120 labour.

one bad experience just recently ... had EBC turbo disks fitted and they made an error as they are fitted slightly differently to standard brembos (so i'm told) ... rectified it free of charge after consulting with EBC technical .... although it's still not completely right - although to be fair still not sure if it's them or the discs.

they do a good job but woudn't say they are experts after having other stuff done at powerstation and tsl.

this used to be an official dealer. I have had 2 services there, and unless they have drasticaly reduced their prices, cant see how they can compete.

I stopped using them for servicing as they knew f*ck all, and they revved and drove the cars like iditots (screeching tyres ect). Wouldnt use the oil i wanted, If i brought my own they would still charge me a usage fee.

take my advice take the 40 minute drive to xtremescoobies near stansted. at least they have decent magazines coffee and a xbox whilst you wait. And were so helpful it made welch's look even more pathetic.

 

xtremescoobies near stansted?! Where abouts is it? I used to live in Stansted, but I've never heard of them.

Bought my car from them just over 3 years ago. Also had the first couple of services done there and been back for parts once or twice since.

I wouldn't recommend them. There are other specialists who know a lot more and charge a lot less. It's worth putting up with the inconvenience of driving to a decent garage once or twice a year for the peace of mind that your scoob's in good hands.
