just got my first scoob bit worried bout a noise

Default just got my first scoob bit worried bout a noise

hi all well after weeks an weeks of searching iv finally got my first impreza its a 94 black wrx sti some sort of protatype im told ????? number 59 of 200, anyone got any info on my type of model i cant find any??? right i got a bit of a problem when i accelerate then lift of i get like a buzzing scraping sort of sound it sounds kinda like some sort of heat sheild vibrating but me an i mechanic mate have searched an searched an can not find any sheild or plate that is loose or could be vibrating, it is loud enough to hear over the exhaust which iv been told by my local scooby speacilist is the loudest he`s heard anyone got any ideas???? im hoping to god its not the engine cause i got made redundant friday an cant afford a rebuild

cheers ali could be an excuse for a new sports cat then lol.

still wanna try an find some info on my model 94 wrx sti apparently a prototype its got a plate under bonnet on drivers wing saying july 94 59/200 iv been told the engine looks different from others as well im affraid i aint got a clue

aint it weird that all these little noises never seem to occur on a pre buy test drive me or the mechanic mate never heard this one weird hey

Would it be a Catalunya if its one of 200 made in black ? ( sort of metallic black with red flecks in it ) are the dial faces on the dashboard carbon ? think they also had red and black seats in them.

No; its an STI..... The first STIs, built in 1994, were 'altered production' cars, produced in limited numbers. The 'STI 2' was the first full production STI.

Not sure Worbs took the above quite as you meant it?

The Catalunya special edition was a '97 and would not have been an STi. There was a "Series McRae" in '95 but did not have red trimmed seats and was blue! I guess it's a Jap market "special"?

Does it make the noise when stationary and revved?
Try pressing the clutch in and see if it goes. I had this exact same noise and was the release bearing.

Had the exact same problem with my 94 wrx a couple of years ago and it was the Up Pipe heat shield !!!

You wil need a hacksaw and a strong arm !!! lol
