I've got an HKS SSQV which is pretty loud and makes the car pop and bang but I've got bored of it now.

Agree with above. However, it WILL NOT have any performance benifits, unless the original one is leaking. Also, VTA dumpvalves can cause some scoobs to run rough or to feel very 'jerky'. (The impreza has a recirculating dumpvalve as standard.)
