Default Brakes and Meguiare's Wheel trim cleaner!

Decided to give my alloys a proper clean for a change today with Meguiare's Wheel Rim Cleaner and boy it got all the crap off and they're looking great...........however seems to have got on the brakes a fair bit. When I reversed her out the brakes made an AWFUL squeeling sound, they normally squeek 'a bit' but this was magnified 10 fold.

How worried should I be, they only squeek in reverse(?!) and seem to stop as they should. Is there anything I should do to ensure everything is hunky dory / get rid of the awful sound??

Give it a good blat round the block, sounds like the discs may have reacted and formed a layer of rust.

My discs do this everytime i clean the car/ or after driving in the wet and leaving standing for any amount of time.

Good luck

Big problem with any spray on wheel cleaner. It's often best to pour some into a small jar and brush it on.

wheel cleaner is designed to kill brake dust

therefore it kills brake pads as well!!
noticed myself after cleaning valets, drive the car out the wash and here the nasty noises as the pads grind down a bit, should return to normal after a few miles use

Ta to all the above for the reassurance & tips. Seems to have sorted itself out now thankfully. BTW - If I want to clean my calipers what should I use as I guess anything acid/alkaline is a no-no, but you need some sort of strength to clean it properly.
