Default Would I Benefit From An ECU Reset?

After modding my94 STi, I haven't really noticed much power gains. I've added a K&N Induction, de-cat downpipe fitted to existing decat centre and back box, but after recently fitting the downpipe I noticed no power increase what so ever, just a slightly deeper exhaust note and the turbo spooling. I plan to get it remapped in the near future, but in the meantime would I benefit from from re-setting the ECU, or would this f**k up any existing map that has already been programmed?

No...an ECU reset doesnt mess um with rom memory....only remaps.

So with some degree of confidence, try and reset it. Saw some curious articles regarding the pos-reset procedures...Some put it on full boost on all gears, others roll 1 mile WITHOUT boost, passing gears very slow. Then stop, turn on engine, and blast away. This last procedure gives u the most aggresive inj timing advance the ECU can produce, so more power is obtained. But other may tell you "other storys"

Bottom line? Try it, again and again and create a "system"...eheh

All you do to reset it is leave the battey unplugged for an hour of so, I think 15 mins will do actually.

I don´t know how much ´learning´ a 94 car will do, but the later ones keep tweeking the map. Resetting puts it back to square 1, but it will get back to where it was quite quicky. It can also show up problems like a faulty maf sensor that it had been gradually compensating for.

To my knowlege you have to get a replacement ecu for a car that age, you cant remap the standard one, at least ecutek can´t. A unichip probably would.

Not sure what mapping was done in Japan before it was imported (if any), but it hasn't been done here since it's arrival in the UK in Jan '03.

The ECU currently installed has the following serial:

U8 226 / AA810 A18-000 RJ2 (2X19??)

The car is thoreticly a version 1 WRX with an STi1 motor with C type RA gearing 1-4 and standard B type 5th gear. STi LSD, Genador decat centre pipe and back box, cusco adjustable coil over suspesion with adjustable Super Special shocks. It has all the luxery's of a WRX, retractable electric mirrors, aircon, rear wiper, electric windows etc, but the power of the STi RA, could be producing 280-300BHP, but I feel it could acheive more power with the recently instaled mods, and wondered if a ECU reset would help at all.

Here's some pics:

Other mods include manual boost controler, Sard Fuel pump, K&N induction etc... Not sure if it's been chipped or not as I haven't removed the ECU cover to inspect. So what you are saying is that i'd need another ECU to have it re-mapped? Would there be any chance the reset may make the car perform better?
