Default Green filter cleaning

How do you clean the green panel filter in the airbox? Do i wash it then re-oil it or what do i do.

I just clean all the dirt off the underside of mine with a brush, then tap it against someting hard to get rid of the bits. Probably not the right way to do it, but it is on my other car and it seems to work. It still seems oily enough to trap dirt without the need to re oil yet.

I thought it had to be washed and re-oiled

You can buy proper cleaning kits.

This contains a solvent to clean the crap and old oil out of the filter and a can of green coloured filter oil.
Tap crud out of the filter, wash with supplied solvent, rinse with clean water and let it dry naturally so as not to shrink the cotton gauze then re-oil.
Its very easy to over oil these when re-oiling the filter, a light spray is all you need
