Question I/C water spray... ?

Hi all,
Still quite a newbie scoobie owner and just wondered when, why and how often to use i/c water spray thingy??
As certain Hale and Pace characters once said 'Oooh, that's clever...
...what's it for then?'
Thanks for your pointers,
Lexx.

Used mine quite a bit yesterday on my STi due to the heat.

The I/C is used because the Intercoller can get hot whilst standing in the sunshine and the water when sprayed turns into a mist which allows the intercooler to suck in colder air for the turbo. Thus allows the turbo to cool better and give better boost performance.

Put it this way, in winter i hardly use any water with it on auto, in summer though, 12ltrs goes very quickly and most STi's only have a 2ltr tank!
