Default Clutch question

Hi all,

For some time now, I've been a bit suspect about the action of my clutch. Although its operation seems fine, no slipping etc.... the pedal feel is inconsistent. It generally feels quite stiff, but on occassion (usually in stop, start driving) it will feel very spongy and weak. I had the fluid changed and this resulted in a temporary improvement in pedal feel. The pedal felt lighter and more consistent in feel. The sponginess had temporarily vanished. However, now its back, and I've just noticed something else: my front tyres are at about 5+mm, but my rears are near the legal minimum.

Forgive my ignorance, but since drive is permanently being sent to all 4 wheels -and I'm assuming that different wear rates front and rear result in different levels of rolling resistance etc- could the significantly different wear between the front and rear tyres be the reason for my clutch symptoms? Or would I not be able to feel this through the clutch? Sorry if I'm being dumb, I'm clutching at straws here!

Many thanks for any help.

I have exactly the same thing , have had since I have had the car, changed cluch, slave cylinder (SP?) and am now running a six speed box with it`s slave cylinder on , Must be the master cylinder, I found a recall notice in the states where they changed the slave cause of this but I did that and it didn`t improve,
seems quite common
I will let you know if the master fixes it
Have a good one
