Question sti 8 vs 7 gearbox

First off id like to send a big shout out to all the current members!!

Does anybody know if there are any differences between the 2002 sti7 6 speed box and the 2004 sti 8 6 speed box or are they exactly the same?, cant remeber if i read somewhere that the 8 box is stronger or is that complete rubbish, also can anybody recomend a decent clutch that is capable of handling 450 ft pounds of torque

Thanks

Andy

I know that the part numbers are different on the MY01/02 sti gearboxes to that of the MY03>, also the standard STi clutch will be able to handle 450lbs of torque, though your going to need some other uprated parts if your not using an MY02> STi as a base (brakes spring to mind straight away!)

Fortunatly for me all the work was carried out prior to purchasing the car, it has cad 6 pots on the front and brembos on the back 410 bhp and 450 ft pounds talk, .
Only trouble is the box is startin to crunch in 5th so i need to get somethin sorted it also has a carbon prop which i hear is suppoesed to help but obviously not

Will a 2004 STI 8 Gearbox bolts straight on to a 2002 STI 7?

Be cheaper to repair the syncros IMO.

Eddie.
