Im travelling to the UK tomorrow to hopefully buy a scooby. The seller (private) has told me the car was never crashed during his period of ownership.

I asked him (tonight) to sign a delaration as follows:
I seller, declare that during my period of ownership of the above car (registration xxxx xxx), that the said vehicle was not involved in any crash or motoring accident.

he said
"I appreciate this may look strange from your point-of-view in that I could be trying to hide something, however, from my view, someone could crash it in 2 weeks time, have it repaired, then come back to me saying its been crashed. Then I have no proof of when the crash occurred or anything"

What do you think??? Flight leaving tomorrow morning

 

He has a point I feel. The only thing you can really do is get it inspected and get it HPi checked - this at least will show if it's been an insurance write off. Failing that, look it over yourself carefully and if you even suspect it's been crashed walk away.

 

Thanks for the reply. I done a HPi check and there was no recorded accidents against the car ... I dunno, I just assumed that if he had never had an accident in the car, then why would he not sign something to that effect? I would have signed it no probs when i sold my last car.
