Question

I seem to have a stange creaking noise coming from the clutch pedal when it is depressed. (pressed down, not fed up!)

Any ideas? Is it serious?

Probably just the pivot going dry... a mere squirt of grease on the pivot point should sort it out.

I get this occasionally too on my car thats just a few month old. I've also got an odd rattling noise that sounds like its coming from the gear linkage but it only does it now and again.

Cool

Had this on my 97 and 99 Imprezas. Pivot needs lubricated in pedal well with squirty silicon. Sometimes you also get a slight sort of click. I assume this is the seal slightly fouling the port in the master cylinder. This clears after a few thousand miles. Happened on both cars.

When I had a Sport, there was an almighty bang from the clutch pedal one day and it appears that there are 2? return springs, one of which broke, hence the bang and the funny smell coming from me!

The creaking could be such a spring? Ditto the rattling?
