Default Ported OE header

Just aquired some of these which I am planning to lag. I've noticed that the up-pipe port doesn't appear to be ported - is this normal?

up-pipe port:

I've also read that the whole port should not be ported, only the 'exhaust' side of the port - these ones look to have been done all the way round although possibly more only on one side.

one of the ports:

Sorry for the cr@p focus quality!

Last thing, as I mentioned, I am going to lag these. Can I grind off ALL of the support lugs, I take it these were just for the heatshields? In other words, are the headers held on to the block purely by the bolts around the ports?

Cheers,
Jamie

Yeah mate, its not best to port the Exiting ports as it were. A volume bulge is created then which is poo for flow.

You can cut all the heat shield lugs of no probs

Good luck.

Cheers mate.

What about the up pipe port - is this normally ported too? I didn't get an upipe with these so is it normal to just put the standard up pipe back on?

I don't want to waste my time putting these on unless I know it will be worthwhile fitting them!

You can port the up-pipe with benifits but there a pain to get off, it wont hurt if its not ported but idealy you could get a ported up-pipe to get the full benifit. Shame i've just sold a ported up-pipe.
