Default Turbo Burn out

Was wondering if anyone could tell me the symptoms of a dying turbo. Just my99 seems to be getting quite sluggish. Especially in 1st, just doesn't seem to pull that hard anymore. As soon as I change to second it pulls nicely, but not always ?????????????

Any advice

If the turbo was on its way out you would expect to see smoke coming from the exhaust on boost, are you gettin this?

What about other things like change plugs, clean/replace air filter, check for loose boost pipes etc?

Yep...smoke on boost is clear sign of turbo seals on the way out.

You could also have a look by taking of IC and air inlet pipework to check for excessive amounts of oil in th turbo which is also another good indication of it being shot.
