Default Grinding when driving??

Guys can anybody give me an idea what this might be??

Car is a '93 WRX import.

When i'm driving i can hear what sounds like a grinding noise coming from somewhere near the front of the car. Performance is as normal, no problems.
It does appear to get slightly louder when the clutch is dipped to change gear.
Sounds almost like something is running dry and causing friction!! All fluids and oils are at correct levels though.

Any ideas??

Gav.

try checking your brake pads, they could be grinding if they are excessively low.

Yeah the callipers on these can bind on slightly.

I had this on the rear and it finally started to squeal, only stopping when I was actually ON the brakes!!!

Got them stripped and cleaned (about £80) and no probs now
