Default renault megane rear caliper

long shot

wifes scenic needs new pads on the rear. it has the lucas calipers. one side went ok but the other side is a PITA. i have tried using a normal piston spreader but you need to rotate the piston whilst applying pressure to get it to rewind.

so.. has anyone used one of these

and would it work for a renault?

I scratched my head for a while the first time i changed a set of rear pads on a MK3 Golf

I bought the same tool as in your picture, which TBH was a bit **** - None of the pins fitted the caliper piston properly - You might be OK on the Renault though.

I have since bought a different one with a threaded rod and a plate which jams up against the opposite side of the caliper, which works much better

Should work a treat. I've used a very similar device in the past (uncle fabricated one for me).

It's supprising (as always) how the saying 'the right tools for the job' is as important today as ever..!
