Default To service or not to service? scoob noob

Afternoon all

I've picked up a dec 96 UK turbo with 54k on the clock and fsh up to 46k where the cambelt was changed. Got the last 5 mot's too.

Only problem is, the last service was done in '02. I know the 60k service is a biggie (£400 or so from my local dealer) but it was also due a service at 52/53k (?). I've been informed that this is just a filter / oil change etc but do I need to get it booked in to keep the history up to date.

I'd also like to have it given the once over but am sceptical of handing it to a dealer I don;t know and have them just make a few easy quid from me.

What would you recommend for me to do to give the car the once over and maybe the best way to get a stamp in the book before the 60k'er?

The car drives fine and pulls cleanly etc etc I could listen for any engine noises but I don't have a clue what they're 'meant' to sound like.

I'm in derby.....

Matt

If the last service was in 02 I would suggest it's way past its next service irrespective of mileage covered since the last one.
Are you saying its covered only 8k in nearly four years? If so, and if you're not too up on Subarus, I would suggest you find a Subaru specialist rather than a dealer, explain the situation and service to date, and agree what he should do.
