Default locking up

hiya all. this is very new to me. only just got scooby. brought it with engine blow. so put new engine in the only trouble is if i drive it and turn slowly. say to park it. the transmission feels like it is winding its self up. it slows its self down and then stops like it has come to maxium twist on the prop. it is a my99 sti type R. oh one other thing the car does not idle well at all and is cutting out. only put engine in today. can i test for trouble codes on mine and how do i do it. never work'd on scooby before intill today so it was a nice first job. thank you if anyone can help

It sounds like your DCCD diff is fully locked. On your car the diff switch will be on the centre console behind the gear lever. Wind it back and the diff should be open.
You could read the ECU fault codes and do a re-set.
Under the dashboard near the steering column you will find two black connectors and two green connectors.
With ignition OFF connect the two black and switch ignition ON. Read the code from the check engine light on the dash a long flash is ten units, a short flash is 1 and OK is on off on off at exactly regular intervals.
Post the fault code(s) and we can identify the fault(s).

For a re-set, ignition OFF and connect the two blacks and the two greens.
Ignition ON without starting the engine and WOT then bring it back to about half throttle and hold for a couple of seconds and then release completely. Now start the engine and drive for a few minutes above 10mph until the car is warmed through.
The check engine light should indicate all clear unless the fault persists in which case read off the fault code.
Don't forget to disconnect the two blacks and two greens.
