My MY03 is just coming upto its 30k service, like next week, LOL.
It has sounded "tappety" when cold for a while now.
Is this normal? I mean, it is only 2 years old ffs.
Surely even though the engine is cold, i should not really be hearing any tappet type noises should i? I thought this is where the good oil comes in?
It is not well loud, but you can hear it when you listen just to engine.
Cant say i can really hear it when it is warm though.
Anyway, all comments welcome! Positive or otherwise

 

WRX03 here also and has the slappy (not tappet) noise since new, it goes away when warm!
It's the piston N3 that does it in mine and have found with Motul V300 10W/40 it's more noisy.
I should go back to Castrol RS10W/60 for this reason but wonder if Motul protects me better than the Castrol.
