Question Backbox and warranty

Does anyone know if fitting a backbox will affect my warranty?

According to Welch's in Cambridge (a main dealer) - no. They say that as it doesn't effect the operation of the engine you are fine. Changing the centre section DOES invalidate the warranty, but someone here was told that it only invalidated exhaust claims, not engine claims.

I had the same response from Carstins in Borsall Common, the guy I dealt with said changing the Back box wouldn't affect my warrenty or free servicing

In fact he said it was needed as the standard pee shooter looked and sounded crap !!

So 25 miles on the clock after picking it up on 1st March I fitted a Ninja Back box

Mark.

With respect, it doesn't really matter what your local dealer says anyhow - its what Subaru UK say.

If I were you, I get the WRSport item - this is an authorised item which can be fitted to your STI without affecting the warranty.
I had one on mine before I bought the STI PPP - its sounds pretty good and you have the added bonus of not having to shout at your passengers when trying to talk!
