Gearbox out!!!
What a nightmare... we replaced the G box in my scoobs last nite and it was a king ***** of an experience (bar all the siezed nuts and bolts)! Me nor the mechanic had seen this set up before, we got it done eventually, but whos idea was it to attach the pressure plate and friction plate to the gear box... BEFORE FITTING IT?!?!?
Anyway, cause we didn't know the pressure plate had to be removed there were three of us hanging off the Gbox trying to get it out. I think this damaged the clutch as the biting point is now very low.
Can I re adjust the master cylinder pedal push rod to give me more travel and raise the biting point? Has anyone ever done this?

the release fork / pressure plate is a really pain if you don't know about it before hand.
You mean the release bearing should go on the gearbox before refitting?
You can do it with it attached to the clutch and put the release fork in at the last minute which is how I did mine but it is easier to remove the release bearing from the clutch and fit that and the release fork to the gearbox before refitting.
You can adjust the pedal posistion with the push rod.. need to look at mine at the moment but I don't thnink the physical biting point will be moved but it might give you back the feel you want.

I'll give it a go later. I know that adjusting the slave cylinder throw made no difference. So I can only imagine adjusting the Master will have the same effect like you say. Wortha go tho, new clutch and box out again otherwise!!!
Cheers for the info

Nightmare first time round
Bad dream second time round
Nightmares thinking I might have to do it again.........
Just try doing the box and rear diff in one session, on your own, in a small private garage.

if you replaced the complete clutch then it cannot be effected by you yanking on the box to get it out.. unlikely I would think to damage the relelase fork although possible..
mostlikely the new clutch just needs bit of time to bed in?
