Angry I've kerbed my car!

This morning, I hit a kerb doing around 10 mph. ( very icy)

Even though it was slow, there was still a loud bang.

What will a garage have to check for?

Thanks, Ted.

Check that nothing is broken/bent inc the alloy and check wheel alignment, that's about it.
If they can't get it aligned cos they run out of adjustment then things get messy.

Can any garage check the wheel alignment or is it a specialist job?

Any decent tyre place like Elite in Rainham or the like will have a look, explain what happend and they will have a look over it for you. £80 ish for a alignment check.
Spin the alloy yourself on the car too see if it's bowed, use a screwdriver or pencil as a marker and look to see if the gap changes as you spin.

If it drives fine and does not pull or drift to one side then it's unlikely to have done serious damage. But get it on some ramps and have a look asap.

I live in the wilderness so can a bog standard garage do an alignment check, or does the job need special 4 wheel drive equipment? If the latter I may as well go to the nearest dealer.

Most garages will have the equipment to do tracking checks. But not to check caster/camber, which could also be afftected, in which case they'll have to a have a decent 4-wheel laser alignment checking equipment.

Also note that if you've not had it checked before in the cars lifetime it'll be out anyway as it comes out the factory like that in most cases.

If you ask to get the alignment checked, it maybe an idea not to tell them where to look for any problems....it makes them look harder
