Default £185 for 5000 mile service!!!

Just a note.
I`m not going to bother nameing the dealer as its not worth it.
Lets just say I`m a little dissapointed with this cost.
All previous supply of car and work has been carried out without a quibble and nothing has been too much work but this to me is a pi55 take.

Back to the Welch group for more realistic service work.

I was quoted something similar for the 99000 mile service on my old Primera - a service which the garage grudgingly admitted consists of changing the oil and doing a visual inspection of the brakes. Total cost to do it myself, about £40 including the purchase of a filter removal tool.

The car's only worth £1500 ffs, why on earth would anyone pay that sort of money?!

Birdy,

Didn't know you'd bought a Zonda! LOL That's taking the proverbial for a Subaru mate! Bet most of it was labour though. Those monkeys in the workshop need a lot of training you know!

I thought the 5K service was just an oil change plus inspection. What was the work listed down as?

They did try and call me back yesterday and I called back.
No contact yet.
Like I say I only get shafted once.
They will loose out in the long run.

Must have been special limited edition oil

I've just got my service book out. The only extra things between the 1K and 5 K are that 4 gas analysis and select monitor check are carried out and the brakes are checked.

You've been had IMHO

Welch's quoted me £120 inc vat on a oil/filter change on a wrx. as it was additional work over the top of the service schedule i bought the filter and got a mate to do it for £20.

I have always used Welch`s.
And never bought a car from them!!!
I only changed to this dealership cause I bought the car from them and so far nothing has been too much trouble for them and no bills.
So like I say its back to the trusty!!

Andy, don't let Arron put you off, my experience of this dealer (Drew in service) has been good so far.

I agree that the £185 is way over price (you should have asked 1st Birdy but I hope they see the light and give you a more realistic bill m8) but I am sure a lot of people on here have got good & bad tails to tell re their dealers.

see Birdy, Andy asked 1st

All feedback I've had on the dealer side has been good, after a prticulary nasty episode with servicing costs at local ford dealer I don't want to get ripped off again...

Exclamation How much!

Aaron, you are correct, they are taking the pi55, had mine done at Quenby of Baldock for £127.21p Still expensive, but no more than I expected for the car!
Do you work around Kempston? If so where?
Cheers

I work in Huntingdon and Kempston.
Mainly H`don.
I used to use Quenby when I had my first Subaru a good few Years ago.
No problems really just a little too far away.
I should have stuck with Welch`s thats plain to see.
The only thing I wish they did was a service wash!!!
I was thinking of buying a Forrester for my Wife but now it will come from somewhere else.
I dont stand for pi55 taking and then I`m sorry afterwards.
Folk only get one chance with me.
I cant do it to my clinets and get away with it.

dealer prices just take the pi$$ really, as i've said many times before...the more people opt for the indpendant speicalst with competative rates the more the realise when the spanner boys are sat with nothing to do... the exeption ruling states you can have it services anywhere... the more people opt to do this then it will go as it is in the US.. a free and fair market... dealer have allways had a captive market place up until now... they already over charge for most things...

greed basicly... they already make 40% markup on parts so why do they push it so far...!

my 30k service was quoted at over £400 from the dealer i used my own oil and the filter didn't need doing as i'd done just before... at a specialst it was £205... ifit had been £30-£40 over a specialst pice then yeh.. but well over £100 is too much of a pi$$ take!

I was once charge £17 for the brake cylinder cap! and £10 for a bosch wiper blade thats about £6 even in halfords///

Welche's service department & parts are very good, but they do get booked up very quickly, had to wait 3 weeks for a slot at the last service. Im going to try xtreme next service

I purposefully didnt buy the car from them as the sales people were just not interested enough. And basically had the attitude of if you dont buy the car at list price I will just try and sell it to the next person that walks through the door.
