Super-quick local DVLA service
Well, hats off to the local DVLA office in Reading. They received my plate transfer paperwork yesterday and they've already processed it and sent me through confirmation, etc. Fan-tastic service guys! 
(oh, one of the perks of having your missus at home sick... so she can watch the post arrive.)
