Default Thinking of buying a scooby.

What is the best petrol to use in a new scooby? Anything else I should really know? Run in? etc.

Shell Optimax or regular Unleaded if it is a UK supplied car.

I take it it will run much better on optimax. What about running it in?

UK cars will run OK on regular unleaded, but it is preferable to use SUL, Optimax or Ultimate. I'd certainly only use the higher octane stuff on an STi or a PPP'd WRX.
When running in, try to keep below 4k revs, but don't worry if you occasionally stray above. Just don't go redlining it 'cos the running in oil is like p!$$ (also, there's no point redlining a turbo car as the torque is all between 4 & 6k). Try to do the 1st 1k miles on roads which give the car something to do. Remember, you're running in the gearbox and drivetrain too, so a gentle run out to the countryside twisties where you'll be up and down the 'box frequently is good. After the 1k service I'd spend the next 1k taking it easy but going a little further than before, then let all Hell break loose
