Default Difficult to engage gears

MY97 Turbo Wagon

Due 105,000 mile service

Became difficult to put into gear, not all the time though. Usually straight from cold but also when warm! It had been sat still after motorway run and then resarted 1/2 hour later (could it be heat soak on crappy old clutch fluid?)

Clutch pedal feels the same, not harder, softer or longer travel.

Ocassional crunch as it goes into gear if I am not careful. Blipping throttle helps on down shift.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mike

oh crap, guess it makes sense to bung a recon box on there myself, any idea's where I might pick one up? an idea of cost would be good to... suppose might as well do the clutch and flywheel too...

Oh well can't afford a house so spend it on the car

If any one comes up with some other suggestions to try first I am all ears!!

Cheers

Mike

Try 2 things first:

1
Bleed the clutch dry, and replace fluid with DoT 5.1 brake fluid. This is very temperature resistant (Worked on my 1999 UK tubo with the same issue)

2
Call David at www.apiengines.co.uk for a clutch/box rebuild quote.
