Default difference betwen sti4 and sti6

apart from the engine what other difference is there between the v4 and v6 - do they have the same gearbox and diff?

Also with the change in sva rules, what is involved in registering either a 97 or 99 sti? I couldnt find a model report on modelreports.com.

Appreciate any advice.

ecu, inlet manifold, coils, front bumper, rear bumper, front grill, headlights, four extra bolts between gearbox and engine on the newer one, gearbox and diff spec is otherwise the same I believe.

SVA - Car needs to be identical to the model report that you will have to find for it, not sure if you can use the WRX modle report for the same year or not?

Type R (2door) has no model report to my knowledge.

Thanks for the info guys, not sure what to do with these two cars, the 6 is damaged and the 4 has a blown engine!!
I think I'll break the 6 and find a v4 engine!

Anyone know where I can get a model report for a sti4?

are the heads and valves okay on sti4? if yes how much would you want for them?

you would probably have to get a model report made which could mean serious ££££

There is no model report for version 4, 5 or 6 as none will pass emissions. If you have any of them you will be stuck with an un-registerable car until a report is devised.

A number of boffins seem to working on one but no one has any success at this time. I suspect that eventually a 6 will be available but doubt that 5 and 4 will materialise.

Remember also, there will be a need of a different report for 4 door STi,, 4 Door STi RA, 2 door Sti R and 2 door STi RA for either version 4 ,5 or 6. WRX varieties are another set of problems.

Thats a lot of money in investment terms [ @ 4 grand a report to create one] to be able to get back on cars at a rate of about £350 per report sold.

I can't see who will be brave enough for ageing cars to spend that much.

Maybe we've seen the last of fresh imports of 4's 5's and Sixes.

Shame because we sold a good number of all of those pre ESVA and they are popular and easy to sell.
