Default Trading in at a car supermarket

Has anyone traded an imported car in at a car supermarket? Do they accept them as a trade?

Car supermarkets offer you next to nothing no matter what you trade in. Sell it privately then go to the supermarket and buy cheap.

My mate has a mint imported Supra twin turbo on an R reg, with a couple of decent mods putting out about 400bhp. Realistically should be looking at £12k - £14k.

He was offered £4k from a car supermarket.

He's now considering selling / part exing it somewhere else. Funny that
