Default JDM STI question

Can anyone tell me which STI models (JDM and otherwise if applicable) have the variable timing on them? My friend is after an STI enginefor his rally car but that variable timing setup wont work with the Haltech hes using, so we are trying to pin down what year engines to avoid.
Thanks

Think so - the UK engine has hardly changed since the Euro-spec STI came out in '02.

For '05, the JDM STI has AVCS on the exhaust cams too - previous models have it on the intake cams only.
