Unhappy Serious Water Leakage

Was sitting at some traffic lights when steam started bellowing out from under the bonnet (MY99 RB5).

Pulled over and warter leaking out and falling onto the manifold, just dont know where from exactly. As you look at the engine bay from the front, the left cooling fan is wet, as is the cambelt case again on the left hand side. I cant see if it is a pipe that has split or a clip that has come loose.

Am i right in thinking that the water pump in at the front of the engine on the left?

Has anyone delt with this before? Are water pumps expensive? Is there a common problem to check?

Any help greatfully recieved.

Oh and merry christmas

hi rb5
the water pump is on the right of the engine as you look at it from the front of the car so not that i would say. my guess is that you have a crack in your rad. they usually go on the front looking at the left of the rad a few inches down from the top on the black plastic end.look carefully and you may see a dried water trail.

Agree with buzzard..

either that of the top hose has split but would have expected you to have thought the engine was on fire as it sprays onto bonnet underside and then drips/sprays onto the turbo and goes up like bonfire smoke.. I seriously thought my engine was on fire!

Thanks everyone, had a good look in daylight this time.

Its the top hose which has split. But guess what no-one has one in stock.

£11 for a hose from Blueprint or £20 from subaru.

Thanks for your help

Happy New Year

I think I paid £10 from www.hdcsubaru.com and they had them in stock and were sent out next day.

Blue print price is very good though.. do you have a weblink?
