Oil type / brand for 04 WRX ??

Oil type / brand for 04 WRX ??
Hello,
Just after a bit of advice on oil.
Just checked the level after cleaning the motor and noticed it is quite low, so off to get some tommorow. Not knowing much about the various grades / types, etc wondering if anyone can give me a simple answer as to the best one to get.
Noticed the manual says 5w 30 or 10w 40. Does this sound about right ?
Whats the best brand to go for and should it be fully synth ?

LOADS of threads on this mate, do a search and look for posts by "oilman".
Silkolene and Motul (sp?) are popular brands, though I don't think you can get them from Halfords! :-)
