Default Help me I'm a numptie!

How do I replace the ECU on a MY 99 car?
Do I just have to disconect the battery and swap it over?

How do I replace the intercooler hoses?
Do you just open the clips and swap them over?

Sorry if this seems silly but I'm not at all technical and would hate to do some damage.
