Default MY04 WRX with PPP

Morning guys n gals,

I have a boggo standard WRX which I got about 8 weeks ago. Very pleased with it, but always striving for more

Warranty is very important to me (will have the car for three years, minimum 30k miles per year) so if I tune, its gotta be the PPP route.

Had a look on the Prodrive w/site, and the figures it states for in gear, 0-60 and 0-100 are very impressive to say the least. Are they accurate though?? Will it really give me a sub 5 second 0-60 time with only 40bhp increase?

Anyone had it done? What are your comments? Positives (obvious, I guess!!) any negatives?

Finally, what's the cost?

Thanks,

Si

if warranty / Prodrive is only route then it is essential - transformation - more torque than STi and the transient turbo lag when changing gears is gone - shame about rip off monopolist price - should be £995 imho

I've had the PPP on my 04. Also had the Prodrive springs & geometry.

Both absolutely transform the car imo.

The 1/4 mile time quoted on prodrive's site is accurate - i've done a high 13.7 in mine at santa pod.

And the 3rd/4th gear times match delta dash figures.

I haven't had the spare hand for doing the 0 - 60 stopwatch, but if it isn't 4.9 for 0 - 60, then it is very close. You have to be very quick to get the 1st to 2nd gear change in before hitting the limiter (very embarrasing). Don't do it too much though as the clutch suffers, and if you try it at a T junction you can get into a 4 wheel drift from a standing start.

Yes, it makes a huge difference, but it isn't the 40 bhp, it is the 25% increase in torque across the entire rev range. Most of the change is due to the new exhaust, which means that the turbo is worked harder.

Totally endorse this point. First is a bit of a joke now, as you can hardly get the change in fast enough into second

The torque is great - you still have to keep the revs up above 2.5k but from 3.5k it is a total hoot. I frequently travel the A66 in my PPP'd wagon, and 50-80 in 3rd for overtaking is the stuff of legends - wonderful.
