i have a my05 wagon, if attempting a tight hairpin using the handbrake for assistance, do i use the clutch as i would in a rwd??

I have tried clutch and no clutch and seems to get round ok, but didnt want to damage the rear diff?!

what is the correct way? use clutch or no clutch?

Technically your not supposed to, the front wheels are locked (not completely) to the back wheels through the centre diff. By applying the handbrake to the rear wheels you can lock all four.

The rally cars disconnect the rear wheels from the diff (or something like that ) when the handbrake is pulled.

 

Plus+ the handbrake is hydrallic on WRC cars unlike on your scoob.

Just do some 'lift off oversteer'...that should do it.

 

Brake later so your still on the brakes as you turn in. With all the weight over the front wheels the back should step out nicely for you to catch as you apply power and opposite lock. Works for me on track, don't try it too often on the public highway. If you can heel & toe it works even better

 

Unless you have a DCCD-A and sets the center diff to open when you pull the handbrake
