Considering chopping to ole girl in for MY03 WRX .. but need good idea of running costs differences (if any) first.

Know that servicing is 1x10k miles/year depending on which comes first.

But what about fuel consumption/insurance/parts etc ?

Had MY00 now have MY05. Insurance went up with L&V but is approx. the same with Admiral etc would be cheaper with Tesco et al if I install a Tracker.

Fuel consumption seems better (27mpg so far) and the last 1/4 tank does not seem to disappear in about 5 miles like the last one

Parts will likely be similar in price, not sure when the BIG camblet service is done (60K?) so may be worth checking out.

One idea though, if you can stretch to an MY04 could you perhaps get a 6 month old car or so that was bought with free servicing?

I had exhaust mods on MY00 and L&V are about 100 quid more a year for my standard MY05

Admiral are about £500 for MY05, I can get it for about £400 at Tesco with Tracker

What you'd need to spend to get an MY04 with the free servicing may be more than buying an MY03 and paying for it ? You'd need to do more sums .. it was just an idea
