I have incorporated a helper spring to my vf22 and propose to modify the FPR by the crushing method of the FPR( Increases the fuel pressure ).
I have been very happy with my LINK map before these changes, but having changed some parameters , it would suggest I may now need to modify my map .
Any comments?

 

Altering the fp will effect the whole ecu map and require modification. It will run rich on idle and cruise but if you crush the fpr the correct amount (big gamble and guess) it could be okay on boost.. but who do you know it needs more fuel at higher boost?

You are wasting your time.. either learn to map it and remap or get it mapped and leave the fpr as it is.. unless you are at the top end of what the injectors can give there is no need.

Adjustable fpr are not that expensive either.

There is no point messing about with things on a car running a MAP based ECU unless you alter the ecu map as it will not compensate unlike a MAF based ecu.

 

Yes I understand the logic ,particularly the last paragraph-It says it all really.
The idea of my injectors (440's)having an increased flow rate at the top end appeals to me - Gives a margin of safety which is always handy to have.I can Reduce fuel at lower MAP's to accomodate the increase in FP.

Anyway thanks for your comments - It got me thinking.

 

I would increase the fueling values in the map before messing with the pressure.

If you get to 90% IDC or you cannot increase AFR by increasing the fuel values as they have no more effect then worth looking at increasing fp or upgrading to new pump and reg and/or bigger injectors

 

Helper spring, VF22, kaboom? Overspeed? Like picking compressor wheel out of the intercooler or engine? If you can't get it on the 0.5 bar actuator you are possibly pushing it too hard.

Good fuel system and breathing (=adequate turbo) for the job will help you not to blow up?
