Default MY02 Forester S Turbo

I'm just about to buy (perhaps!) an 02 Forester. Test drove it, felt OK apart from a misfire type feel mid range in higher gears, revved straight through in 1st, 2nd & 3rd.
The car has done 82K, so high mileage but full Subaru service history.
Is there anything I need to be aware of or look for before handing over the money?
I'd appreciate any pointers, I don't want to buy a lemon!

My dad's got an '02 S turbo and it's a good car. There's definitely no misfire type feel. I know it could be anything but just be wary.

Thanks for the input, after reading some more threads it might be the MAF sensor. It might just be that it had not been run for a time and the tank was nearly empty but better safe than sorry eh?

Good Idea but I guess that there are more Subaru experts resident on here than employed by both the RAC and AA!!
