Looking for an upgrade box for MY99. Is the above any good? I know the STi5/6 boxes are good upgrades but not sure about STi4 Type R. Is the casing as strong as V5?

put the type r gaers in your casing and use your front diff and you will have a much better gearbox

 

Sounds like alot of work. Any idea of costs labour? I take it I would still be able to fit the diff control etc if I was using V5 casing?

Might just hold out for a STiV5/6 box

dont think its hard work for someone who knows what they are doing, the gears will be the same in the v4 just the v5/6 casing is superior i got charged £100 to swap the gearbox and £100 to swap the gearset only thing was i paid £450 for my gearbox as i ws impatient and wouldnt wait for a cheaper one

 

hi - just fyi , saw type 4 gearbox on ebay today - maybe this is the one you have in mind though...

 

Going to wait for a STi5/6 or P1 box to become available
