Hi, I have a 2000W Legacy 2.0 that all of a sudden has seemed to develop a funny noise when you accelerate from a standstill and slip the clutch @ 3000 ish RPM. It sounds like a "chatter", bit of a sqeal if you know what i mean????
The car still changes gear fine with no clutch slip..... just wanting opinions on what you lot think this could be??
Any help would be great! Many thanks MAC

Could be numerous things. You sure its not clutch on way out. Have you tried handbrake on in 1st gear and see if it slips or not. Could be thrust bearing on way out, 1 of the springs from the clutch cover may have broken loose. These are just my thoughts on it, Maybe some technical bods on here can throw sum light on it.

it's the flywheel quite a common problem they developed it to take out judder but after a few thousand miles it sounds like a canary under the bonnet there is a modded flywheel and clutch assembly for it but it's quite expensive.
it's made up of 2 parts the part the clutch works on can move independently to the part that bolts to the crankshaft they can move but are held together with springs and it's these moving on the pegs that hold them cause the chirping. the actual friction plate has no springs in it at all, when you fit the modded type it has a normal clutch and the flywheel like a turbo and all is quiet again!
