Default Turbo recommendations for STi V3 Type-R?

I am looking for a replacement turbo and there are a few around at the moment on the boards - VF30, VF28 etc.

What would you recommend? I wouldn't mind a mild 'upgrade' but I don't plan to do remapping just yet.

I am looking for a bolt-on replacement for my current stock turbo.

ta,
Matt

Any turbo which is different to your current unit will require careful monitoring to ensure your engine is running safely, if it is to be fitted without a remap.

A remap is advisable for ANY different turbo.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?

oh, say I put a VF34 on it - what is the best option remapping-wise? Are we talking Link territory? (I think the TEK options are out of the window on a 97 Type-R right?)

thanks

I wouldn't consider Link, for that price bracket it has to be an Apexi PFC. I've had both and to say the Apexi is a big improvement is an understatement and a half!
