My insurance renewal
Last year I contacted LV for a quote. At the time they quoted me £980.
After much searching I went with my bank (Natwest) and got covered for £650 (inc PPP)
This week I had a letter from LV with a quote for this years coverage. £984
blimey.
Just had a renewal letter from Natwest today. £478
WOW.
So, I called LV.
They did a requote for me - £880
So I told them about Natwest
£780
then she said, the abosolute lowest we can do is £680
thats better. Then I ask about mods. Everything is covered apart from increasing cc's of the engine. Just keep receipts/photos.
So, I'm leaning towards LV now, because Natwest are not that keen on mods (even though they covered the PPP). When I asked them last year about lowering they said £100 increase on policy and £100 extra excess.
I'll call them anyway this week, but I plan to do a lot more mods (mech & cosmetic), so I think LV will be the way ahead.
Anyway, the moral of the story. Haggle - It got me £300 off their first price.

LV rock in my opinion.
My renewal quote (£459.42) was lower than last year and wasn't increased when i told them about my SP30 either.
Agree with the haggling too. I've recently insured a Transit van and got the quote down from £334.34 to £174.07. Nearly a 50% reduction! Commercial Vehicle Direct if any one is interested.
