Hi all
I need to take out a policy on my new Japanese import STI in the next week or so, and I've had several quotes fairly close together. Next year Mrs C and I are thinking about driving through Europe and doing a few laps of the Nurburgring, so it would be good to get a policy that will either cover it anyway, or which can be extended to do so.
So, does anyone know of any companies that:
- would include cover anyway? (The Nurburgring is, I believe, classed by the local authorities as a public one-way toll road with no speed limit, and not as a private circuit).
- could include track cover for a reasonable extra fee?
- would provide cover separately?
Thanks
Andy

Andy,
we drove to Germany last September in the Scooby and our insurance with elephant covered us at no extra cost for driving in Europe and on the 'ring. They classed it as a public toll-road. Our standard insurance wouldn't cover us for a few laps at Hockenheim though, which I can understand as it is a private racing circuit! As for whether elephant offer additional or separate track-day cover, I don't know, sorry.
Driving through Europe is brilliant - hardly any traffic outside major towns and cities, pristine tarmac roads (except some crap concrete Autobahn sections), 100 RON fuel
, excellent road discipline (in Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany anyway!), fast roads, no traffic jams. I can't recommend it enough.

I'm having the same problem Andy ... most of the companies I've tried wont insure for the 'ring and separate trackday insurance is looking like £380!
I'll let you know if I find anything better ... perhaps you could do the same if you find something?

Certainly will - although I'd probably stump up £380 on top of the cost of the holiday for a day at the 'ring. It's the getting there that's expensive.
