Unhappy Doom3 and 7.1 Surround

Doesn't work.

****.

Just thought people should know - if you're thinking of rushing out and investing in a spanky new 7.1 set up. Save your money.

You have to set to 5.1 to get it to work.

I am upset.

Headphones = Girlfriend not moaning at me

Ever since I switched to headphones to play CS they're all I've used for FPS games, you can hear so much more, prolly just getting rid of the noise pollution around you

I've always wondered about using headphones in games like CS, I have 4 speaker surround and find it invaluable to hear the person coming up behind me from the rear speakers. Do you lose this on normal headphones?

Nope I can tell when someone's behind me just using headphones.
Best to try it and see. It's the best single thing you can do to improve your kill rate. You can hear things you might have missed with external speakers (unless you've got them turned right up!)

any recommendations for good headphones, can you get headphones that support surround sound, or will my "normal" iPOD ones work ok?

For me headphones make a game far more intense.

If you're going to try them for the first time with D3 just make sure you buy a spare pair of pants too!

ok, found some 5.1 'phones that are getting good reviews

http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pag...EC&title=172076

I paid £47 for these when they were previously on the Bargain Forum and they were worth every penny at that price. Now Play have them in stock for £39.99 (Was £34.99 ) including free delivery! Firebox are still selling these for £59.99.

They're fantastic for on-line gaming or just watching DVDs in 5.1 at max volume without disturbing the Wife/children/neigbours!

Can't believe you are bitching about something not working in a pirated game tbh.
