Here in Japan there is a STi4
one year old, 3000 miles at
13,800 GBP.

Please may I ask why is there such a price difference? Is it the cost of import, the cost of conversion or the fact that yours is a version 5?

By the time you pay for shipping, someone to sort out the paperwork, insurance, import duty, VAT, modifications to get through UK SVA test, SVA test itself, fit alarm, underseal etc, that near 14k price soon rises to well over 20k

Following on from John has already correctly stated, the pound is now only worth around 170 yen - when I ordered my car, it was at 220 and had been as high as 240!

Incidentally, I am having to sell my car in order to fund the building of a new house - and reluctantly, getting my priorities in the right order !

Rupert -

For god's sake man, don't do it! Just remember the old saying, "you can sleep in a car but you can't drive a house". Unfortunately saying this to one's partner can result in you _having_ to sleep in the car...

Nice one Mike - I'm not about to abandon Impreza ownership yet though. I'm just having to downgrade to a UK spec car for a while in order to put a bit of cash into this house project.

That's alright then

As it happens, I know someone with a decent example (including Prodrive handling pack) he's desparate to sell for a very reasonable price... take a look at recent posting from AndyG for more details.

I'm now inviting sensible offers - and I can probably sort out finance if required. I am not a trader however. You could realistically save about £4K on a new one, after you've paid for all the UK conversion stuff that this has already had, and you'll have a job getting as good a warranty anywhere else as Motor Warrantys Direct no longer cover STi's.

This must be good news for somebody, if not for me! My lovely unmarked cool grey STi 5 4dr is now for sale for the princely sum of £21K, due to a house-build project. Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser, completely undersealed, delimited, converted, 1 registered owner and not marked as an import, balance of 3 yr warranty etc

Jeez, that is a good price. If I didn't have my Evo on order, I'd be seriously tempted.

Slow market or not, I'd expect someone to chew your hand off for it at that price.

Question

Are you going to tell us how much ? I've been at Roger Clark Motorsport today and one of their customers has just sold an STiV with 4000 miles for £18k - nearly made me cry !
